Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

LOOK, I DIDN'T WANT TO BE A HALF-BLOOD. I NEVER ASKED TO BE THE SON OF A GREEK GOD.

I was just a normal guy, going to school, playing basketball, skateboarding. The usual. Until I accidentally vaporised my maths teacher. That's when my time fighting with swords, battling monsters with my friends and generally trying to stay alive.

This is the one where Zeus, God of the Sky, thinks I've stolen his lightning bolt and making Zeus angry is a very bad idea.

CAN PERCY FIND THE LIGHTNING BOLT BEFORE A FULLY FLEDGED WAR OF THE GODS ERUPTS?

Book Review:

4/5, This is a fantastic introduction to a great series where normal life meets ancient mythology, GREEK MYTHOLOGY. These stories are now being re-written, with new characters but still the same amazing stories.

Movie Review: 3/5
           {not as good as the book}

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

It is the first day of November and so, today someone will die. Even under the brightest sun, the frigid autumn sea is all the colours of the night: dark blue, black and brown. I watch the ever-changing patterns in the sand as it's pummelled by countless hooves. they run the horses on the beach, a pale road between the black water and the chalk cliffs. It is never safe, but it's never so dangerous as today, race day.

"Some Race To Win, Others To Survive.
It happens at the start of every November: the Scorpio Races. Riders attempt to keep hold of their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line. Some riders live. Others die.

At age nineteen, Sean Kendrick is the returning champion. He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them.

Puck Connolly is different. She never meant  to ride in the Scorpio Races. But fate hasn't given her much a choice. So she enters the competition - the first girl to ever do so. She is in no way prepared for what is going to happen.

As she did in her bestselling Shiver trilogy, author Maggie Stiefvater takes us to the breaking point, where both love and life meet their greatest obstacles, and only the strong of the heart can survive. The Scorpio Races is an unforgettable reading experience. " by The New York Times

Maggie Stiefvater is a New York Times #1 Best Selling Author, of the novels Shiver, Linger and Forever. She is also the author of Lament: A Faerie Queen's Deception and Ballad: A Gathering of Faerie.

Book Review: 3/5

A fantastic tale and story line but it draws on for a large amount of the book. If you like horses or just slightly romantic stories with devastation and sadness. I loved this book, Maggie Stiefvater is an amazing writer and hopefully there will be plenty more amazing books to come from her.

The Wrong Boy by Suzi Zail

“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” NELSON MANDELA

“Being kissed by Karl Jager was devastating. And Beautiful. War makes you do dangerous things.”

Hanna Mendel liked to know what was going to happen next. She was going to be a famous concert pianist. She was going to wear her yellow dress to the dance on Saturday night. But she didn’t plan on her street being turned into a ghetto. She didn’t plan on being rounded up and thrown in a cattle truck. She didn’t plan on spending her sixteenth birthday in Auschwitz, in a wooden barrack with two hundred other prisoners. Most of all, Hanna didn’t plan on falling in love with the wrong boy.

BOOK REVIEW: 4.5/5

This is an indepth book about the lives of Jewish women and teenagers during World War II. This story follows through the life of Hanna Mendel her love for music, and all things a teenage girl thinks of. The truth I found myself crying by the end of this story not because of the romance or even the story but it was the truth about the past. This is part of the world’s history and even through this story is not based solely on truth this did happen. If you are interested in romance with a mixture of WWII and the concentration camps then this book would be a great and enjoyable read.  I recommend this book for teenaged girls who love romance and even boys and younger readers.

Book Review: 4/5

This is a fantastic series filled with twists and turns you will never see coming romance and friendship round every corner and a girls fight to become what she doesn't want to be but is destined for. Wendy had a difficult childhood from the start her mother didn't like her but life went against her on her 6th Birthday when her mother tried to kill her. Coming to terms with this over time and never feeling like she belong if Wendy's life wasn't confusing enough. He comes yet another amazingly hot guy to sweep our main characters thoughts up and make life even more confusing.

I recommend this series for teenaged girls who love mystery and romance, hopefully soon we will be able to have a movie about it to watch but before that happens there is a great opportunity to read the books.

This is a romantic series filled with love and joy, although it does draw off a little in the first book. If you love story's filled with innocence, peace and romance then this is a fantastic series for you. I recommend this for Teenaged girls between 13 - 18.

This is an amazing series, if you enjoyed Alex Rider then you certainly will love these books.
